Lampard: "My focus is on Coventry City"

Frank Lampard commits his future to Coventry City amidst Bournemouth rumours

Frank Lampard has brushed off the rumours linking him to the Bournemouth job this summer, insisting his full focus is on Coventry City.

The Cherries will be looking for a new head coach at the end of the season after Andoni Iraola announced he would be leaving upon the expiration of his contract in June.

Lampard, meanwhile, has Coventry on the brink of securing promotion back to the Premier League.

Coventry could secure their top-flight status for the 2026-27 campaign with a draw against relegation-battling Blackburn Rovers on Friday.

Since taking over at Coventry in November 2024, Lampard has won 41 of his 71 Championship games (D14 L16), averaging 1.93 points per game.

The former Chelsea midfielder guided them to the play-offs last season, where they lost to Sunderland in the semi-finals, but they look set to win the title this time around.

Reports have emerged linking Lampard to a move to the Vitality Stadium, but he is paying no attention to them.

When asked what he thinks about the rumours, Lampard told Sky Sports: “Nothing, because I’ve been in this long enough to know those things happen, and very quickly, they change.

“My focus is on us. I want to win this league now after what we’ve done through this season, because it would be a slight anti-climax feeling for me if we didn’t get the job done.

“That’s a good pressure to have at this point. I want to do that. Nothing else is taking me away from thinking about that.”

Accounting for three points per win all-time, Coventry’s 85 points this season are already their most in a single league campaign in the club’s history.

The Sky Blues will end a 25-year exodus from the top flight if they earn one more point, having gone all the way down to League Two during their period out of the big time.
