Medeama lost a two goal lead to Asante Kotoko as they settle for a draw in Kumasi

Former Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC held Asante Kotoko to a 2-2 draw at the Baba Yara sports stadium after taking a 2 goal lead in the first half.

The Tarkwa based club led by Coach Ibrahim Tanko are poised to make a return to the Africa having making their debut two seasons ago.

Medeama took an early lead on the 5th minute through Derrick Fordjour and later doubled their lead on the 19th minute from the spot kick by captain Yussif Mubarik after Prince Owusu was brought down in the penalty box by Zakaria Mumuni.

Asante Kotoko’s chase for a consolation goal paid off on the 60th minute after Peter Amidu Acquah found the back of the net for the Porcupine Warriors following a beautifully cut back pass from Lord Amoah.

Captain Samba O’Neil rose highest to clinch a 92nd equalizer for the Kumasi based club to bring the game to a 2-2 draw.

Speaking to the media after the game, the head coach of Medeama Sporting Club Ibrahim Tanko had these to say: “We lost concentration and conceded two goals after taking the lead. It’s painful, but that’s football.”
