Youth team: Manchester United

At the infant age of five, he began playing football, later joining Manchester United’s U-15 team. Kobbie Mainoo began his playing career as a striker before moving into central midfield, though he was as at ease playing in attacking midfield.

Because of his skill, Kobbie Mainoo stood out among the U15 players. At the age of 15, he was swiftly moved to United’s U18 team, where he played an important role with players like Alejandro Garnacho and Charlie McNeil.

He played a key role in Manchester United’s 2021/2022 FA Youth cup triumph for the U18 side as he was a main stay in midfield for Travis Binnion team with the 17 year old scoring twice in his side’s run to the title.

Such form has also seen him made a handful of appearances for the U-23 side while he has also featured in the Uefa Youth league for the club although he is yet to be included in a matchday squad for the senior team. On the 17th of May 2022, it was announced that Kobbie Mainoo had signed his first professional contract with Manchester United although the length of the deal was not revealed.

Kobbie Mainoo Playing style

Kobbie Mainoo is an exceptionally talented technical player who possesses remarkable strength, endurance, and passing skill both on and off the ball. When his team is not in possession of the ball, the midfielder might intervene and stop opposing play in the middle of the pitch.

Because of his intimidating strength and skill, Kobbie Mainoo has frequently been compared to French midfielder Paul Pogba, but it’s important to remember that Kobbie prefers to play a simpler style and approach to his game.

International career

While Kobbie Mainoo is yet to be capped at the senior international level, he has been capped several times by the England U-17 side. The midfielder is eligible to play for both Ghana and England at the international level and it will be interesting to see which country he will choose to represent in the future.

Our verdict

While Kobbie Mainoo is undoubtedly talented, he is still has alot to improve on if he is to become a world class player someday. However, with the kind of raw talent and technique he possess, he is surely one to keep an eye on.
