Harry Kane: "We can beat any team in the world"

Harry Kane sends warning to PSG ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final clash, claiming they can beat anyone

Harry Kane warned Paris Saint-Germain that Bayern Munich “can beat anyone” after setting up a quarter-final meeting with the European champions at the Club World Cup.

Kane scored twice as Bayern ran out 4-2 winners against Flamengo in their last 16 meeting at Hard Rock Stadium, with an Erick Pulgar own goal and Leon Goretzka’s long-range effort completing the scoring.

Gerson and Jorginho, who scored from 12 yards, had pulled the Brazilian side back into the game, but they could not push for a comeback.

Bayern plundered 12 goals in the group stage of the competition and showed their ruthlessness in goal as they scored from 1.1 expected goals (xG), netting with three of their four shots on target.

Kane, who had only managed one goal in the first three matches, now has 41 goals in all competitions since the start of 2024-25.

And he believes Bayern have the ability to get past any opponent, with a mouthwatering clash against PSG, who they beat 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season, next up.

“It’s going to be another tough game,” Kane told DAZN. “PSG have had an amazing season. We played them earlier in the year, and we came out on top.

“We have to try and use that energy, that feeling, in this game. We know it will be difficult.

“But look, we feel like we can beat anyone when we’re at our level. We’ve shown it in the tournament so far. It’s going to be another tough game. We’re going to have to recover well and get ready for it.”

It was a fairly even match-up between Bayern and Flamengo, with neither side able to gain a real foothold in possession, while Filipe Luis’ side only managed three shots on target to Bayern’s four.

“I think the main thing is, I looked in the first 20 minutes, and we were playing well, but the intensity of the game was ferocious,” head coach Vincent Kompany told DAZN.

“I’m thinking, ‘okay, in this heat, against this opponent, is this going to carry on?’ To be fair, we grew into the game, and I think it was a good game for the fans. We are really happy to go to the next round.

“We’ll see what it needs to be for that game [against PSG], but the main thing is we have to rest now, recover from this game, use every single day that we’ve got to rebuild our energy.

“What more do you want? Top sides playing each other on the biggest stage. We’ll be ready for that.”

Filipe Luis admitted after the game that Flamengo had not managed to match Bayern for quality and was left to rue errors.

“It’s up to us to simply recognise the superiority of our opponent,” he said.

“They are very good, we knew that. At this level, any mistake is fatal. Those who deserved to go through got through.”
