Medeama extends their stay on top of the GPL as Asante Kotoko falls short against Swedru All Blacks
Medeama hosted GPL Giant Accra Hearts of Oak at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa on match day 17 of the Ghana Premier League.
Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Salim Adams was expected to be the focal point of discussion as many Ghana Premier League lovers were looking forward to the reunion between the player and his former club.
Medeama went into the game as the leaders of the GPL and were looking forward to extending their lead at the top of the league ahead of Aduana FC and Asante Kotoko.
Phobia entered the game without Ghana’s number one goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, but had another safe pair of hands in the person of Solomon Agbesi in the post, with Hamza Issah and Frank Abora Duku leading the attack for the Rainbow Boys.
Medeama took the lead in the 87th minute through none other than Salim Adams, who was allowed a huge space in the 18-yard box of the Phobians, who eventually punished them.
Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, was handed a defeat at the Swedru Stadium as goals from Laveh and Mensah were enough to give Swedru All Blacks a 2-1 win over the Porcupine Warriors.
Aduana FC’s chase for their second Ghana Premier League title also lost by 1-0 to Vision FC at the Nana Agyamang Badu I Park in Aduana.
