Chris Bassitt Net Worth – Christopher Michael Bassitt, an American baseball pitcher, was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 22nd, 1989.

Bassitt played baseball and basketball for Genoa Area High School in Genoa, Ohio. Bassitt was named to the All-Suburban Lakes League first team in both sports his senior year.

In his senior year, he threw for the baseball team and had a 1.56 earned run average (ERA) with 65 strikeouts in 56 innings pitched.

Bassitt received a basketball scholarship after graduating from high school. He made the decision to enrol at the University of Akron, where he played college baseball for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) squad known as the Akron Zips.

When Bassitt originally arrived to Akron, he decided to redshirt. The Zips’ closer in 2009 was Bassitt, a redshirt freshman. He had a record of 1-5, a 3.52 ERA, and seven saves.

He pitched in just one game during his sophomore year in order to concentrate on his studies. Bassitt pitched to a 1.42 ERA in 2011, his junior year, and held opposition batters to a.183 batting average. He was chosen to the second team of the All-MAC.

Bassitt was chosen by the Chicago White Sox with the 501st overall pick in the 16th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.

To start his professional career, Bassitt signed a contract with the White Sox and was given a job with the Bristol White Sox of the Rookie-level Appalachian League.

He began the 2013 campaign with the Class A-Advanced Carolina League’s Winston-Salem Dash, where he was selected an all-star.

He earned two victories in the Southern League playoffs after being promoted to the Class AA Birmingham Barons.

Prior to the 2014 season, Bassitt shattered his right hand. Before going back to Birmingham on July 29, he had three rehab appearances with the Arizona White Sox of the rookie-level Arizona League.

He had a 3–1 record and a 1.56 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 34+2⁄3 innings for Birmingham. Bassitt made his major league debut on August 30, 2014, when he started a game against the Detroit Tigers. In six appearances with the White Sox, he recorded a 3.94 ERA.

The White Sox sent Bassitt to Glendale of the AFL after the regular season, where he pitched 13 innings with a 0.69 ERA, striking out 22 batters while walking just three.

After the 2014 campaign, the White Sox dealt Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Bassitt, Josh Phegley, Marcus Semien, and Rangel Ravelo.

On April 23, Bassitt was promoted to the major leagues after beginning the 2015 campaign with the Nashville Sounds of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. Bassitt ended 1-8 with a 3.56 ERA in 18 games (13 starts).

With a 0-2 record and a 6.11 ERA after 5 outings, Bassitt’s 2016 campaign was short-lived. On May 5, 2016, it was revealed that Bassitt will have Tommy John surgery, which would prevent him from playing for the remainder of the year.

Bassitt faced the Los Angeles Angels on May 27, 2021, and threw his first full game of the season. In a 5-0 victory, he struck out 9 opponents while only allowing 2 hits.

Bassitt was hit in the face by a line drive on August 17, 2021, and was taken to the hospital on a motorized stretcher. On September 23, 2021, he returned to the mound later in the campaign.

The Athletics dealt Bassitt to the New York Mets on March 12, 2022 in exchange for J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller.

By agreeing to a contract worth $8.65 million for the 2022 season with a $19 million option or a $150,000 buyout for the 2023 season, Bassitt and the Mets avoided arbitration.

Bassitt received a $150,000 buyout when he decided to opt out of his contract on November 8, 2022, and choose free agency.
