Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has overtaken Sir Alex Ferguson’s illustrious Champions League record.
Man City defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal matchup on Wednesday night, Carlo Ancelotti broke the previous mark.
The thrilling match played at the Etihad Stadium featured Bernardo Silva as the man of the match, according to The Mirror.
The Portuguese midfielder gave City the lead in the match with a pair of goals in the first half. Akanji and Julian Alvarez added goals in the second half to give Pep Guardiola’s team a historic victory.

Despite Real’s heavy defeat, it was not all gloom for Ancelotti, who inked his name in the history books of the Champions League after the clash.
According to The Mirror, this was the Italian’s 191st match he has coached in the competition, thus surpassing Ferguson’s 190 fixtures he was in charge. Incredibly, this is the second record Ancelotti has snapped from Fergie, having usurped the Scottishman’s 102 wins in the tournament earlier on in the season.
Meanwhile, Fergie won the Champions League on two occasions with Manchester United during his glittering managerial career at Old Trafford. On his part, Ancelotti has lifted the prestigious trophy four times – twice with Real Madrid and twice with AC Milan.
