Anthony plans not to return to Manchester United as he's keen to stay at Real Betis

Loaned out Manchester United winger Anthony expresses his desire to stay at Real Betis to the club president

Antony wants to extend his stay at Real Betis for another year after making a fast start to his spell on loan from Manchester United.

The Brazilian (Anthony) has scored two goals and assisted another two in five Spanish top-flight appearances, as well as netting in the Europa Conference League.

Indeed, since his LaLiga debut at the start of February, only Lamine Yamal (13) and Betis team-mate Isco (19) have created more chances in the division than Antony (11).

In an interview with Spanish radio station Canal Sur, Betis CEO Samon Alarcon revealed he had spoken with the winger, who is enjoying his time in La Liga.

Alarcon said: “The other day, Antony told me that he wanted to stay another year.

“The player is very comfortable here and was surprised by the facilities we gave him to settle in the city as soon as he arrived.”

Antony had a torrid time at United after becoming the club’s second-biggest transfer of all time in the summer of 2022, signing for £82m from Ajax.

Anthony scored just 12 goals and registered five assists in 96 appearances, before leaving for Betis in January.
