Meet Rose Amoanimaa; Who is making Ghana proud in the ongoing African Games.

Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah, a high jumper from Ghana, thrilled the home audience on Tuesday night at the University of Ghana Stadium by successfully defending her title as the African Games champion with a jump of 1.90 meters.

Yeboah, who won gold at the 2019 Rabat, Morocco, Games, outjumped her own record of 1.84 meters five years prior to seal the deal.

Even with her outstanding accomplishment, the 22-year-old athlete is still not eligible to compete in the Olympics. On her third effort, at 1.94 meters, she missed the qualifying mark by 0.03 meters. She had attempted 1.97 meters.

Yeboah swept through the competition, with Guinean jumper Balley Fatoumata taking second place and a silver medal for her 1.81-meter leap, and Algerian Darina Hadil Rezik taking bronze with her 1.78-meter leap.

Although the men’s and women’s 100-meter finals disappointed Ghanaian sprinters, particularly local favorite Benjamin Azamati, Yeboah’s gold medal win and following lap of honor filled the stadium with joy and raised the spirits of the onlookers.
