Darwin Nunez becomes Liverpool’s new number 9
Reports from Liverpool football club confirm that Darwin Nunez will wear the No.9 jersey for Liverpool for 2023-24
The Uruguayan joined the Reds from Benfica for a record fee of £85 million last season.
The forward in the number 27 shirt managed 15 goals in 42 appearances for Liverpool. Darwin becomes the latest player to wear the famous number 9 jersey after greats like, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Fernando Torres and Roberto Firmino.
It is said that fans who have already purchased new 2023-24 home and away jerseys printed with the name ‘Darwin’ and the number ‘27’ will be personally reimbursed by Nunez with a like-for-like exchange for a ‘Darwin 9’ shirt.
Darwin Nunez on the number switch had these things to say
“I’m really happy to wear number nine, I’m very proud. I hope I’m able to represent it the best way just as the previous players did. And hopefully this is for many years and that it brings a lot of joy too.”
