Erik ten Hag Told Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United Players Are Now Better Than Him
In terms of match fitness ahead of the upcoming season, Erik ten Hag affirms that other Manchester United players are considerably better than Cristiano Ronaldo since “he is not on the same level” with them.
Against Rayo Vallecano, Manchester United’s final preseason game before the regular season begins the next week, Ronaldo was recalled to the starting lineup and given the chance to lead the team’s attack.
Cristiano’s first game since the last season ended.
Ronaldo has since made up for missing the club’s trips that started in Asia and continued to Australia by saying that he had to attend to family matters. Erik ten Hag has a high-energy attitude that makes him question if Ronaldo can handle it.
Erik ten Hag continued by telling the Portugal captain that in order to catch up with his colleagues, he must play games and train hard.
He told Sky Sports when quizzed on Ronaldo’s physical state: “I cannot tell in this moment. He is definitely not on the level of our current squad, because he missed a lot of week. So he needs games and he needs a lot of training.”
