Chelsea are now determined to strengthen their defense with Benjamin Pavard.
Following talks between the defender’s camp and the Bundesliga giants about his future, Benjamin Pavard may be permitted to leave Bayern during the current summer transfer window.
Along with Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Premier League club Chelsea, the 26-year-old defender has received much interest.
Benjamin joined the Bavarians in the summer of 2019, a year after winning the World Cup with France, from fellow Bundesliga club Stuttgart.
Since then, Pavard has been a reliable player of Die Roten’s right back line, appearing in 119 games and contributing five goals and 11 assists.
The France international won the UCL trophy and three Bundesliga championships while playing for Bayern Munich. The French defender’s position in the team, however, is in jeopardy as a result of the Bundesliga giants’ purchase of Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax this summer, and a breakup may be in the cards.
Top European teams are keeping an eye on the Frenchman’s situation, with the Blues being one among them. This summer, the Blues are in front of a major defensive remodeling. Chelsea is predicted to sign at least two new center backs after Rudiger and Christensen left as free agents.
A left-back is also expected to be signed now that Alonso is also leaving, and a new right-back may also be in the works. The former Stuttgart defender’s contract with the German team expires in two years, and the Bavarians may demand a high price for his services.
